It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna “Anne” Teresa Giblin, on June 26, 2025 in Weston, FL. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 91 after a life filled with love, service, and selflessness.
The second of 8 children, Anne was born September 27, 1933 to John Thomas and Rose Gober in Coplay, PA where she enjoyed spending time with an extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and cousins. After graduating from Coplay High School, she decided to follow her father’s footsteps and enroll in the U.S. Navy - a role she held with great pride throughout her life. While stationed at St. Albans Naval Hospital in Queens, NY she met her future husband, the late Peter D. Giblin. They settled in New Hyde Park, NY and were happily married for 35 years.
Numerous pastimes were shared with family and friends and happiness was found in a good book, playing Pinochle, Continental or Poker, completing crosswords, jumbles or jigsaw puzzles, and watching Jeopardy each night. May she meet Alex Trebeck once settled in the heavenly spheres. Spring and summer months were dedicated to her backyard garden, from which a variety of vegetables were generously shared with friends and neighbors. She also much enjoyed hosting large gatherings where both Frank Sinatra and her signature Manhattans figured prominently. That said, Anne’s favorite pastime of all was anything to do with her beloved Yankees, a love she has passed down to her grandsons.
Anne is survived by her loving daughters, Christine (Jeffrey) Sturman, Peggy Giblin, Virginia Giblin (Carlos Sanchez, Bruce Murtha); treasured grandchildren, Gabriel and Spencer Sturman, Darius Sanchez; sisters Rose Kroboth, Agnes “Susie” Reph, Teresa “Terry” Skrapits; brothers John, Alfred, and Joseph; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward.
Anne will be remembered for her sharp wit, her giving spirit, and her unwavering love for those lucky enough to be part of her world. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her memory will forever live on in the stories, laughter, and love she leaves behind.
A celebration of life will be held in Weston, FL, followed by an Autumn service on Long Island before internment at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Anne’s name to either the American Stroke or American Cancer Associations.
