Courtney Tennyson Buckridge

Courtney Tennyson Buckridge, affectionately known as “CatB,” passed away on March 20, 2026, in Pompano Beach, Florida, at the age of 78.

Born on February 9, 1948, in Vineyard Town, Kingston, Jamaica, Courtney was the beloved son of Ralph Buckridge and Ringgold Buckridge (née Smart). He grew up alongside his sister, Marlene O’Sullivan (née Buckridge), forming strong family bonds that remained important throughout his life.

Courtney immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, where he built a life rooted in love, hard work, and dedication. He married the love of his life, Janice Buckridge (née O’Sullivan), on July 27, 1969. Together, they raised two daughters, Tracey Anne Buckridge and Sheryl Buckridge May, creating a close-knit and loving family.

He later moved with his family to Uniondale, New York. After the passing of his beloved wife Janice in 1994, Courtney relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he spent the remainder of his years.

Courtney was a hardworking and entrepreneurial man. He worked for Monroe (Litton) Industries during the 1970s and early 1980s before opening his own business alongside a trusted friend. His determination, resilience, and independent spirit were an inspiration to those around him.

Outside of his work, Courtney found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, bowling, music, and singing, and he had a natural gift for making people laugh. Known for his generous heart, he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Tracey Anne Buckridge and Sheryl (Buckridge) May; his granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Buckridge; his son-in-law, Donald May; and many cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Janice Buckridge.
