In Loving Memory of Francis "Frank" V. Colonna
May 11, 1958 – November 29, 2025
Frank Colonna, affectionately known as “Uncle Frank” to many who loved him, passed away leaving behind a life defined not by conventional boundaries, but by beauty, connection, and joy.
Born in Canada, Frank was adopted by his loving parents, Frank and Marie Colonna, who gave him a foundation of love that he carried into every relationship he formed. He was preceded in death by his brother, John. While Frank leaves behind no immediate next of kin, he was never without family. He was claimed, cherished, and considered family by countless friends whose lives were brighter for having known him.
Frank attended Kinnelon High School in New Jersey before continuing his education at Florida Atlantic University and later The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. His studies laid the groundwork for a lifelong career in interior design, a calling that perfectly matched his exquisite taste and discerning eye.
Frank spent his professional life working with Baker Knapp & Tubbs and Baker Furniture, where his deep appreciation for craftsmanship, materials, and detail was evident in everything he touched. Design was not simply his work; it was his language. Every object in his home was thoughtfully chosen, every space carefully curated, a reflection of the beauty and intention with which he lived his life.
A longtime resident of Fort Lauderdale, Frank found daily peace and exhilaration in the ocean, swimming miles nearly every day. This ritual grounded him and spoke to his strength, discipline, and love of nature. He lived boldly and fully, with a larger-than-life personality that filled every room he entered.
Frank delighted in travel and adventure. He loved skiing, yachts, and sightseeing through Europe. Whether exploring new places or savoring familiar ones, he approached life with curiosity, humor, and an infectious enthusiasm.
More than anything, Frank will be remembered for his generosity of spirit, his unmistakable presence, and his ability to make people feel chosen. He built his family not through blood alone, but through love, and in doing so, he leaves behind a legacy far greater than words can capture.
Frank Colonna will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
