Gloria (Maupin) Matthews

Gloria (Maupin) Matthews, born March 26, 1948, passed away on January 31, 2026 surrounded by her children and granddaughter, wrapped in love and peace.

Gloria loved the Lord with all her heart and her faith shaped everything she did. Her children were her greatest pride, and she truly was the heart of our family, one of the most selfless people we have ever known. She put others first in everything. She loved playing bingo, watching movies, and being together with her family. She showed love in her actions, her words, and her laughter.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Tressie Matthews, her father, Williams Matthews, and her granddaughter, Starr Ritchie.

Left to miss her dearly are her children Tressy, Toni (Steve), Tiffany, Veronica (Adam) and Timothy (Christine), her 10 grandchildren and 3 great‑grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Linda (Jim), Joyce (Dave), and Darrell.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal service. Her children held their own celebration of life to honor and remember her. Please remember or celebrate her in whatever way feels right for you. We will always love and cherish our mother. We take comfort in God’s promise that all who believe in Him will live, even though they die: “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in me will live, even though they die.’” — John 11:25.
