Oakland Park

Guy Allen Shutt of Coral Springs, Florida passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.  Born December 18, 1940, he grew up in Greenville, CT, a small neighborhood of Norwich, CT.  Guy was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 1, 1953, which later would become the most important thing in his life.  He graduated from Norwich Free Academy and went on to work for the State of CT for more than 30 years.

After retirement, Guy moved to Florida where he resided for over 20 years.  Among the things he enjoyed were baseball, fishing, traveling, and antiques.  He loved watching the UConn women’s basketball team and the Miami Heat each season.  Guy was known as a gentle giant.  He was a very generous person; he was kind, compassionate, and loving to his family, friends, and neighbors.  His greatest love was reading the Bible and coming to know and adore the author of the Bible, Jehovah God.  As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he was known for taking every opportunity to talk about God’s Kingdom with anyone he met.  He was always ready to help a friend in need.

Guy was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Carolee Shutt.  He is survived by his wife of over 20 years, Bonnie Shutt, along with her two daughters, Dawn (Joseph) Therrien and Julie (Michael) Immerman, as well as Bonnie’s granddaughter Kelly (Edgar) Adame.  Guy is also survived by his sons Eric Shutt, John (Stephanie) Shutt, and Robert (Cassaundra) Shutt, along with his sisters-in-law Judy (Charles) Lindberg and Marjorie Hagert.  He leaves behind his seven grandchildren: Derek, Daniel, Kyle, Cody, Jonathan, Kylie, and Emmalyn, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 1 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5811 N. Pine Island Road, Tamarac, FL 33321. A Zoom link for the program can be obtained by texting 860-830-7664.
