Born in Bristol ,PA he went to Buckingham High School and graduated from Muhlenberg College after military service with a Bachelor’s degree in 1960. He immediately worked for Pan American Airways at Kennedy Airport in New York, and later in sales in Manhattan and was assistant airport manager in Berlin from 1972 to 1975. He married his wife Ingrid in 1966 in Vienna whom he met at Kennedy Airport in 1965 when she was a stewardess for Pan Am. After Ingrid got pregnant with Erica in 1967 they moved back to Bucks County, Pa and after 3 years in Berlin Howard and Ingrid founded a Travel Agency and Ski tour Company Alphorn Tours in Peddler’s Village, Lahaska, Pa. Sept 12 1968 their daughter Erica was born. In 1971 their son Phil joined the family. Both were born in Doylestown hospital, PA. As the travel and tour business boomed in the eighties and nineties Howard, an avid skier was able to escort his ski and river cruise groups all over Europe. Howard skied until age 86 and biked until 90. In 2018 they bought a unit in The Summit Towers in Hollywood, where they are permanent residents.
