James Wayne Cleveland, 85, of Deerfield Beach, Fl, passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2024. James (Jim) Wayne Cleveland, writer, photographer, editor, publisher and adventurer, was born in Calhoun City, Mississippi to Vera Myrtle and James Ausie Cleveland. Jim was an award-winning newspaper journalist and photographer with a keen interest in the people and places around him and an eye for finding subject matter of interest brought to life by his words and photographs. A prolific writer of both fiction and nonfiction since childhood and throughout his life, Jim was also an author of many books.
Jim was a loving, devoted and sentimental father, who said of his daughters he had a knack for making beautiful girls.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Vera Myrtle Cleveland, father, James Ausie Cleveland, daughter, Carla Marie Cleveland, and wife, Blanche Irene Berland.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Michelle Cleveland Williams, Gwendolyn Jay Cleveland, granddaughter, Jasmine Calvert McKay, great grandson Vincent Calvert McKay, ex-wives Nancy Cleveland and J’Lynn Cleveland.
