Kenneth Lowrey, 82, of Boca Raton, FL passed away peacefully April 28, 2026.
Kenneth was born on August 10, 1943 in New York, New York, son of the late Howard Lowrey, Sr. and Mary (Hinchey) Lowrey and spent his early childhood growing up in the Greenwich Village neighborhood in lower Manhattan. As a teen he moved to CT where he graduated from RHAM High School, class of 1961.
He proudly served in the Air Force from 1964-1968, where he was certified in aircraft pneudralics, and completed a tour in Vietnam. Toward the end of his military service he met the love of his life, Thelma Elizabeth (Gilman) Lowrey. They were married on July 25, 1970 at Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtown, CT. Together they built a life dedicated to each other, family and adventure.
In 1982, Kenneth moved his young family to Boca Raton, FL, where he worked as an Electrical Engineer at The Miami Herald until his retirement. Though he made Florida his home he couldn’t leave behind the charm of New England and established a tradition of spending summers in CT. He enjoyed the outdoors and embraced the RV lifestyle traveling many miles up and down the east coast and throughout New England. His journeys were often accompanied by an eclectic mix of his favorite music, and no trip was complete without stopping at a point of historical significance along the way.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter Pamela Bruni, her husband Chris; his son Kenneth M. Lowrey, his wife Violet and four grandchildren Harrison and Meryl, Jimmy and Emma.
Kenneth is also survived by his three brothers, Howard Lowrey(June), Jimmy Lowrey and Bob Lowrey(Sue) and his sister Laura Storta (John). As well as multiple generations of beloved nephews and nieces.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years Thelma Elizabeth (Gilman) Lowrey.
Graveside services will be held June 4, 2026. More details to follow.
