We celebrate the life of Mary Evelyn Goode (12/28/1940-04/28/2023) who passed away peacefully on April 28, 2023.  Mary was the daughter of the late Robert and Lucia Matzke of Indianapolis, Indiana.  Mary, beloved wife, mother and friend, was born in Indianapolis, and is survived by her husband Herman H. Goode, to whom she was married for 66 years. 

Mary and Herm have four sons and four grandchildren;Ronald Goode and (pre-deceased) Karen (Peters) Goode of Margate, Florida;

Robert Goode and Patricia (Overington) Goode of Boca Raton, Florida (grandchildren Garrett and Erin);Michael Goode and Janis (Pontlitz) Goode of Boca Raton, Florida; and Gary Goode and Stephanie (Smith) Goode of Green Acres, Florida (grandchildren Matthew and Richard). 

Mary and Herm met, and later married in Indianapolis. 

When Herm and Mary were raising their young children, Mary worked part time at the local library.  As a stay at home mom she had many hobbies including crafts, sewing, reading and gardening.  Mary also enjoyed attending horticultural events and touring botanical gardens. 

When the children were young, Mary and Herm moved to Chemung, NY where they raised their four boys, before moving to Baltimore, Maryland where they spent time sailing in the Chesapeake Bay.   

They then relocated and became long term residents of Connestee Falls (Brevard, NC), where she enjoyed living in the mountains with her loving spouse Herm. 

Mary loved the mountains and nature; she spent a lot of her time strolling through the woods, bird watching, and playing in her garden.   

Mary and Herm most recently resided  for the past several years in Pompano Beach, Florida near their children and grandchildren.  

There are no planned services at this time.
