Melissa Freeman Bell of Boynton Beach FL, passed away unexpectedly on April 22, 2026. Originally from Weston MA and Boston MA, she was the daughter of Peter H Freeman and Helen Fletcher. Melissa leaves her loving children, Lindsay Bell of Lake Worth FL and Christopher Bell of Gainesville FL.
She is also survived by her siblings: Cricket Kennedy and her husband Hank, Sarah Jaffurs and her husband Tom, Peter H. Freeman, Jr. and his wife Pamela, Patricia Fletcher and her husband Rod, Pamela George and her husband Rick. Melissa will also be greatly missed by many extended family members and dear friends.
Melissa attended the Beaver Country Day School and Garland Jr. College in Boston, MA.. She went on to become a well loved art teacher at the Unity School in Delray Beach, FL, inspiring countless young artists through her encouragement, imagination, and gentle spirit. Melissa took great pride in the exceptional work her students created, and spent many happy hours showcasing their art throughout the school and the community.
Melissa was a talented artist who lived a life filled with creativity, laughter, and love of family. She enjoyed creating art, writing children's books, jigsaw puzzles, summers on Martha's Vineyard, sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, oysters and lobster rolls, long walks in the forest, and observing nature. Memories of her warmth, creativity, wit, and fun-loving sense of humor will be held in the hearts of all who knew .and loved her.
A remembrance and celebration of Melissa's life will be held at a later date.
