Paul E. Lawler (“Paulie”), age 69, passed away on December 3, 2025, in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was born on December 23, 1955, to Dr. Paul E. and Virginia (Furey) Lawler.
Paul was the devoted husband of Debra Lawler and the loving father of Chloe. He was the cherished brother of Rosemary (Tom) Cavanagh, Ginny (Dr. Patrick) Russell, Peter (Sue) Lawler, Warren (Cathy) Lawler, Dr. Charles (Shelly) Lawler and the Honorable Christopher (Julie) Lawler. He was an uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Paul graduated from La Lumiere School in LaPorte and attended Colgate University on a football scholarship. During his junior year, he led the nation in interceptions and was included in the College Football Hall of Fame. He was subsequently drafted by the Buffalo Bills.
Paul lived in the Chicago area for many years, creating countless memories with family and friends. He and Debbie later moved to Pompano Beach, Florida, to pursue his dream of owning his own business and fishing year-round. When not working, he could be found on his boat, listening to music and enjoying time with family, friends and his beloved pets.
A memorial celebration will take place in Florida on January 18th 2026 @ The American Legion Post # 142 in Pompano Beach Fla. 33060 - The time will be from 5:30PM until 7:30 PM
A mass for the celebration of Paul’s life will be held on January 31, 2026 at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Palos Heights, IL
