Ronni Sue Blunt, 72, died on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Known for her resilience, optimism, and giving spirit, she will be deeply missed by the
many loved ones whose lives she touched.
She was born on December 8,1952 to Sam Hochberg and Ceilia Malishevsky Hochberg
of Long Beach, New York. As a child, she enjoyed time with an extended family of
cousins, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. She loved the beach and spent countless
hours playing and socializing there, a trend that would last her entire life. Surf sounds
were the music for her meditations and spiritual reflections.
Ronni graduated from Long Beach High School, earned her undergraduate degree from
the State University of New York at Buffalo, and received her Master’s in Social Work
from Florida State University in Tallahassee. She devoted her career to helping students
with special needs feel accepted and successful during their middle school and high
school years. Her longest tenure was with the Broward County Public Schools, from
which she retired as a Family Therapist in 2022.
Ronni enjoyed attending the theater, reading, yoga, and entertaining family and friends.
She dearly loved her dogs Benny and Ozzie. Ronni had a far-flung network of friends
from every phase of her life. She was a friend you could count on for support and love,
and her friends returned the love right back to her.
She endured an extended illness with colon disease and faced its challenges head-on.
Her strength, determination, and will to keep going will be remembered by all who loved
her.
She is survived by her son, Matthew Blunt, and her grandson Camren Blunt (of
Pittsfield, MA). She is also survived by Camren’s mother Nicole Debaggis, his brothers
Owen and Abel Carchedi, and their father Jared Carchedi. She also leaves behind her
brothers Andy Hochberg (and sister-in-law Barbara) of Pittsfield, MA and Jack
Hochberg of Davie, FL. She will be dearly missed by a niece, nephews, and many
supportive cousins, especially Phyllis Hochberg, Marjorie Dennis, and Randi Malin. She
was pre-deceased by her dear cousin, Ellen Sheffield.
A Celebration of Life is planned for the fall. Memorial donations may be made to the
American Cancer Society.
