Susan Burns

Susan Burns, aka Suzi B., age 58, passed away on the morning of August 15th,
2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family
as she was called to her final resting place in heaven. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, on
September 27th, 1962, she is the daughter of John E. Magner Jr. and the late Evelyn
Zukowski Marioneaux.

Suzi loved the quote by -William Shakespeare “Love all, trust a few and do wrong
to none.” Suzi loved yellow labs, Italian food, sunflowers and lavender, the beach, red
wine, artist Aretha Franklin, big leather handbags and natural rustic wood.
As an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Room/Trauma
Nurse, Flight Medic Nurse both rotary and fixed-wing, and Paramedic/EMT, Suzi was
truly dedicated to her career and was referred to as “legendary” by her colleagues. She
saved hundreds of lives with her sharp critical thinking skills. The Emergency
Physicians heavily relied upon her because of her dependable accuracy. She has also
impacted, influenced, inspired, and mentored dozens of nurses in Palm Beach County.
She was known for her kindness, funny stories, having a big heart, her lack of a filter,
intolerance to disrespect and baking the best cookies in Palm Beach County. What she
missed most during her battle with cancer was providing passion and purpose to make
a difference and inspire people, and not having the opportunity to practice as a Nurse
Practitioner.

Susan is survived by her father, John E. (Nubia) Magner; identical twin sister,
Catherine Magner aka Cassy; brother, Jim (Rachel) Magner; sister, Kim (Nick) Phillips;
nephews, Austin and Shaw Pomianowski, Zachary and Tyler Magner, Nicholas Phillips;
nieces, Chelsea (Logan) and McKinley Gates, Madeline Diez, Ashley Phillips; and
former husband, Jeffrey Burns.

Susan stated near her final days, “Don’t be sad that I’m gone, remember me with
happiness, love and fond memories of how I touched your life, until we meet again.”
