Tracy Barnard

Jul 31, 1956 — May 27, 2026

Hobe Sound, Florida – Tracy Barnard passed away suddenly on May 27, 2026. Tracy was born in Rochester, NY on July 31, 1956 to the late Arthur Legg and Constance Kelly.

Tracy grew up in Newark, NY and graduated from Newark High School in 1974. Tracy met her husband, Mike, in 1981 when she went to thank him for fixing her car at Mike Barnard Chevrolet. They met again when Mike rang the bell at a home he was looking to buy and Tracy answered – it was her mother’s home. They were married in 1983 and stayed in Newark until 1991 when they moved to Cobblestone Creek Country Club in Victor, NY to pursue Tracy’s love of golf.

Tracy held the Club Champion title at several golf clubs in NY and FL. She was a top pick for anyone that needed a fourth to bring home the trophy. Tracy’s love of golf took her to the NYS Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament in 2008. Playing in Ireland was one of her favorite accomplishments. She was always willing to pick up a game with anyone, and in the last years enjoyed her “Dottie” league at Hobe Sound Country Club. Over 38 winning trophies decorated her home as a tribute to her love of golf.

Tracy had many hobbies besides golf. She was an avid reader and always had a puzzle going. She also had a love for movies, planning the Christmas ball game, and making cowboy cookies. Her favorite hobby was grandmother to Mike and Liz; her love of sports cars made her easy to find in the school pickup line.

Tracy and Mike built an automotive dealer group in Western New York together. Their work with the Rochester Auto Dealers Association, National Auto Dealers Association and the Dealers Election Action Committee took them all over the country and abroad. They were married for 40 years. Mike passed in September 2023, and Tracy adjusted to the loss of her dedicated partner. In late 2025 she found love again with Skip Willis. They had made many plans to support Tracy’s desires to travel the country and the world (51/49).

Tracy’s 70th birthday would be this year. She made big plans with her best friend Irene Griffith to cruise Tahiti for two weeks and celebrate. Take this as a note to live life to the fullest, take risks, make plans, and sometimes do it just because you can. Life is short, have some fun – start with yes.

Tracy is survived by her daughter Carey (Brian) DeVaney and their children Michael and Elizabeth; her son, Gregory Barnard; her daughter, Diane Barnard Ledbetter and her children; Sarah, Allie, Matthew, Spencer and Thomas; sisters, Catherine Beers and Victoria Legg; niece Tonya (Chris) Whaley; extended family and dear friends.

Tracy was predeceased by her husband Mike Barnard, her brother Skip, her son, Doug, her son-in-law Tom Ledbetter, and grandsons, Brantley and CJ Edmonds.

A private ceremony for the family will be held in Newark, NY. If you wish to donate in honor of Tracy, please consider the Treasure Coast Foodbank or your local humane society.
