In Loving Memory of a Devoted Father, Friend and Forever Teammate

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Warren Arnold Jenkins Sr., who departed this life peacefully on May 6, 2026, at the age of 67. Warren was born on May 7, 1958, in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Walker and Delores Jenkins.

At a young age, Warren became a junior member of WJ and the Fantastic Flames of Bridgeport, Connecticut, a musical group founded by his father that included all of his brothers, where his love for music and talent as an avid bass player began to flourish. The group toured nationally, shared the stage with legendary artists such as Kool & the Gang and James Brown, and won at the legendary Apollo Theater for three consecutive weeks. By the time Warren reached high school, the band had dissolved, and he went on to attend Central High School, where he proudly played basketball for the Hilltoppers, before continuing his education at Morgan State University.

Later in life he became a devoted softball player. He lived life the same way he played the game; with heart, grit, and an unwavering love for the people in his life. His love was steady, loyal, and fierce, the kind you could always count on. He showed up, whether it was in moments of celebration, times of struggle, or just the everyday routines that mean the most over time. His family was his pride, his purpose, and his greatest victory.

Softball was more than a pastime. It was a lifelong passion. From his earliest days on the field to the very end, the game remained a constant. The crack of the bat, the dirt under his cleats, the camaraderie of teammates, softball was where he felt most alive. He was known as a leader and mentor among those whom he played with and against. He taught by example what it meant to commit, to compete, and to never quit, no matter how many innings life throws your way.

And then there were the Raiders... Win or lose, year after year, his loyalty never wavered. Game days were sacred, emotions ran high, and being a Raiders fan wasn’t just about football, it was part of who he was.

His smile will never be forgotten and he never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his toughness, his humor, his stories, and his unmistakable presence; for the way he loved deeply, played hard, and stayed true to his family, his game, and his team until the very end.

Though he may have left the field, his legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walker Sr. and Delores Jenkins, sisters, Wanda Jenkins, Carole Jenkins Randolph, brothers, Lawrence Jenkins, Robert Jenkins, and grandson, Gary Witkovski. Warren is survived by his brother, Walker Jenkins, Jr.; sons Warren Jenkins, Jr., Michael Barber and JR Roysdon; daughters, Theresa (Ryan) Martin and Buffie Ford; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Rest easy, Dad. The game was better because you played it.

A celebration of life will be held to honor his memory, where family and friends can come together to share stories, laughter, and the many moments that made him so special. It will be a time not just to mourn his passing, but to celebrate a life well lived.
