Wilson Silva, of Sunrise, Florida, passed away at 78 years of age on September 11, 2026. Born in São Paulo and raised in Recife, Brazil, Wilson lived a life filled with music, laughter, faith, and a deep love for his family and the places he called home.
Wilson's love of music and soccer began at a young age. As a boy, he enjoyed playing the accordion and soccer, and his talent on the soccer field was such that he was invited to pursue the sport professionally, an opportunity he ultimately declined. His musical gifts were equally remarkable, leading him to perform with a large symphony orchestra at just 14 years old. He later played drums in the band Gemini-V before moving to the United States to build a life for himself. He continued playing drums with various bands after his move, carrying his passion for music with him throughout his life. Music remained an important part of who he was, and he loved sharing it with those closest to him. Whether playing his drum set, sitting at the organ, or playing the piano for family and guests, Wilson found joy in bringing music into the lives of others.
The United States became an important part of Wilson's story, and he took pride in the life he built here. He loved this country, developed a deep appreciation for American history, and became a U.S. citizen. He enjoyed learning about and sharing what he knew, just as he loved telling stories about his native Brazil. Proud of both his heritage and the home he made in the United States, Wilson carried a genuine appreciation for the people, places, and history that shaped his life.
Wilson also had a natural gift for connecting with people. As a salesperson, he knew how to strike up a conversation and make others feel welcome. He took great pride in his family name and loved sharing stories about his life and roots. With his quick wit, endless jokes, and unmistakable desire to be in the limelight, Wilson had a way of keeping conversations lively and making people laugh. He knew how to bring lightness to a room and leave people with a smile.
Wilson’s love for soccer never faded. He remained a devoted fan of the Brazilian national team, and watching Brazil compete in the World Cup was a cherished tradition that connected him to the country where his story began.
Above all, Wilson cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years and his two daughters, who will carry his memory and the lessons he shared with them throughout their lives. Among those lessons was an enduring reminder to always love yourself first, a message that reflected his spirit and one that will continue to resonate with those who knew and loved him.
A man of deep faith, Wilson believed in God and a life beyond death. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of his loved ones, his family finds comfort in believing that he has been welcomed home and joyfully reunited with his mother, father, sister, and the beloved fur babies who brought him so much love and happiness throughout his life, including his cherished Salukis, Romeo, and Luna.
Wilson will be remembered for his musical gifts, humor, and love for both Brazil and the United States, as well as the unmistakable presence he brought into every room. His laughter, stories, and music will live on in the memories of those who loved him.
May he rest in eternal peace.
