Frequent Questions
Have questions about cremation? You’re not alone. Atlantis Simple Cremations answers the most common questions about direct cremation, our services, pricing, and what to expect. Proudly serving South Florida with dignity and transparency.
-
What do I do when a death occurs?
Arrange online or call us. One of our Cremation Care Professionals is always available to assist you. We will then arrange the transportation of your loved one into our care.
-
How can you offer such affordable pricing?
We offer affordable cremations by keeping our services simple, transparent, and handled entirely in-house.
Unlike traditional funeral homes, we specialize in direct cremation without costly add-ons or upsells.
We own and operate our own crematory, which means there are no third-party handling fees. By streamlining the process and offering online or phone arrangements, we reduce overhead and pass the savings on to you—without compromising dignity or care.
-
How do I know that I am receiving the correct ashes?
Because we own and operate our own crematory, your loved one is transported directly into our care. From the moment they are in our care, we begin a series of identifications and markers that stay with your loved one throughout the process.
-
What areas do you serve?
We proudly serve families throughout South Florida, including:
Broward County (e.g., Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Coral Springs)
Palm Beach County (e.g., West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach)
Miami-Dade County (e.g., Miami, Hialeah, North Miami, Aventura)
Whether you're arranging a cremation from home or visiting one of our offices in Pompano Beach or West Palm Beach, we're here to help 24/7. Our online system also allows families from anywhere in Florida to complete arrangements with ease.
-
How do I get the cremated remains returned?
We return your loved one’s cremated remains to any US postal address via USPS Priority Mail Express (free shipping within the State of Florida). We cannot mail to a P.O. Box. Signature is required. You may also make an appointment and pick up the cremated remains at our Care Center. Shipping outside of the State of Florida is available for an additional fee.
-
Can I plan in advance if I choose cremation?
Pre-arranging funeral services can be done regardless of the final disposition. Pre-arranging is simply recording your wishes with the funeral home and prefunding if you choose to do so.
-
Can I get the cremated remains delivered in person?
Absolutely. There's a fee of $150 for in person delivery of your loved one, by a team member of Atlantis. You may also save the $150 by picking up the cremated remains in person at our Care Center.
-
Can I pre-pay your services?
Yes, you can pre-pay for our cremation services through our secure pre-planning program.
Pre-paying ensures your wishes are documented and locks in today’s pricing, protecting your family from future costs and stress.
We offer flexible, affordable options for individuals and families across Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade Counties.
You can begin the process online or schedule a free consultation with one of our caring team members.
-
How long does the cremation take?
Cremations typically take two weeks, excluding weekends. A doctor must sign the death certificate. After the certificate has been signed, the County Medical Examiner's Office must review the death certificate and issue a permit authorizing the cremation. This process cannot be expedited. If the person is at the Medical Examiner's Office, then cremation takes place sooner. Once the death has been registered and all the permits and authorizations received, we may proceed with the cremation and ordering of the death certificates.
-
What if I need additional death certificates at a later time?
Option one (online): www.vitalchek.com
Option two (in person): Your local County Health Department
-
Do you notify social security?
We notify Social Security of your loved one's passing. However, you must contact them directly if you are entitled to any benefits.
-
Why can't I go in person to arrange a cremation?
We at Atlantis try to keep the cost of cremation low. By having families arrange online, it allows us to run our operation more efficiently and are able to keep prices low.
-
Can I see my loved one prior to cremation?
We offer the opportunity to see your loved one prior to the cremation taking place.
Our private family goodbye is an additonal service offering that allows up to five people, 30 minutes at our crematory
